What a night we all had at the grand opening party of KIBOU Oxford on Friday, 26th July, our newest Japanese restaurant in the heart of Jericho. The evening was such a fun celebration, attended by local businesses, media, influencers, plus our incredible friends (new and old!) and supporters – all coming together to mark the beginning of this exciting new chapter of our journey.
Guests were treated to a mouth-watering selection of Japanese-inspired canapés, alongside a refreshing welcome cocktail courtesy of Roku Gin and refreshing Kirin beers. The atmosphere was electric, with a lively DJ set filling the outdoor terrace with energy and entertainment.
A true highlight of the evening was the traditional Kagami Biraki ceremony, performed by Akashi Tai, to officially open the restaurant. This ancient sake barrel-opening ritual symbolizes good fortune and new beginnings, and couldn’t be more fitting to help welcome in our new site. Guests joined in the celebration with a glass of sake, raising a toast to our arrival in Oxford.
The event was a huge success, with fantastic attendance, great vibes, and an overwhelming show of support from the local community. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect welcome to Oxford. Thank you to everyone who made the night so special – we can’t wait to share more of the good times with you all!
