Sapporo miso ramen
One of Sapporo’s most beloved dishes is its signature Miso Ramen. Born in 1958 at Aji no Sanpei restaurant, this dish features medium-thick, crinkly noodles that soak up the rich miso broth. Cheltenham will be serving their version of Sapporo Ramen, complete with braised pork belly, mince, bamboo shoots, spring onion, sweetcorn, tea-stained boiled egg, and those irresistible noodles.

A true Sapporo classic, Soup Curry, is also making an appearance. This 1970s fusion dish blends elements of Chinese and Korean medicinal soups with curries from Indonesia, Thailand, and India. Clifton is dishing up a delicious Sapporo Soup Curry with chicken and mixed vegetables in a rich curry broth, a perfect nod to this local favourite.

Clifton will also be offering Butadon, a simple yet flavorful dish that originated in Obihiro, Hokkaido. This bowl of braised pork belly on seasoned rice is served with pak choi, cabbage, pickled ginger, Japanese pickles, and a tea-stained boiled egg—a comforting meal for anyone looking for a taste of traditional Japanese cuisine.

In Solihull, we’re recreating the region’s famed Jingisukan (Genghis Khan), featuring grilled lamb and vegetables over seasoned rice. Named after the Mongolian conqueror, this dish has become a staple of Sapporo’s food scene.

Sapporo’s proximity to the sea means it boasts some of the freshest seafood in Japan. Battersea is serving up a vibrant Kaisendon, a fresh fish rice bowl that includes salmon, tuna, scallops, sea bream, sea urchin, prawns, and ikura, showcasing the best of Hokkaido’s abundant waters. You can also try their Kani Korokke—golden-brown snow crab croquettes with a light tobiko mayo.

Hokkaido is also famous for its sweet, succulent scallops, and you’ll find delicious scallop dishes at our Battersea, Cambridge, and Clifton locations, celebrating this regional delicacy.

Known as the dairy capital of Japan, Hokkaido’s influence can also be tasted in our special desserts this month. Battersea will be offering a rich Matcha Burnt Cheesecake, while Cheltenham serves a refreshing Matcha & Vanilla Ice Cream, both perfect ways to end your meal.
